What is Write Inspired ?
Write Inspired aims to create a world where every child feels inspired to write, not out of
obligation, or to pass a test, but out of sheer enjoyment.

The key principles
Writing is hard. To start with, we need ideas. Added to this we need to master the rules of writing. We also have to be engaged and inspired enough by these ideas in order to want to write them down. It is vital that we experience the enjoyment that writing can bring in order to give the rules purpose and meaning. Write Inspired activities all follow key principles that engage, enthral and ultimately inspire children to write with enjoyment, passion and authenticity.
Focus and awareness
We live in an age of distraction. In order to gat ideas we need to be aware. Using simple, playful activities Write Inspired teaches you how to find ideas anywhere and change them from the ordinary into something magical. Something that you will want to write about. Children soon understand the power of focus, concentration, paying attention, awareness and observation.
Sound
Sound is inspirational. Write Inspired uses sounds to generate unique imaginative ideas. They teach the difference between listening and hearing. To be inspired by sound you have to listen to it. Deeply.
Sounds fascinate and give the opportunity for everyone to have an idea. The use of sound is one of the unique features of Write Inspired. It tunes us into the symphony of everyday life.
models
Making models to inspire involves using your hands to bring words to life.It gives ideas meaning and agency. It allows us to actively interpret our thoughts, translating them into something we can see and touch. This is inspirational and gives everyone something they want to write about. Sessions have involved creatures, coral reefs, trees, abstract sculpture and much more.
organisation
Write Inspired uses unique graphic organisers to develop ideas. They come in many forms : Idea windows, Ideas wheels, Poetry maps, Sound boxes, Story Maps and Awareness grids. They all give a structure and framework to the ideas and help you see connections more easily. They give us time to contemplate and develop our ideas into something truly magnificent.
celebration
The purpose of writing is to be read or heard. Write Inspired always celebrates the work produced. Either through improvisation with music, book making and sometimes even full blown performances in the evening. These celebrations reinforce the purpose of writing itself.
playfulness
Writing is hard. It can lead to a lack of energy in the room which is not conducive to powerful focussed work. Write Inspired uses simple movements that are designed to energise the mind and body. They are hugely popular and reduce the anxiety that can often stand hand in hand with writing. This playfulness is essential for imagination and creativity to blossom.
